LIFE MOMENT

So.
The other day in rehearsal.
I had a proper life moment.
I love having moments of clear realization or understanding about things.
And my thing at hand was my voice.

Point is.
We've had two concerts now, and it's UH-MAZING.
Seriously.
It's going so well.
I can't even.
Crazy.

So now I'm back in my room, I'm staying in the theatres quarters, watching National Treasure 2.
I have some lemonade and a KitKat.

This concert is so cool.
It's just an incredible program and I love the people and just yep.
I am one happy cat.
Seriously.

Happy birthday, to everyone.
And good night.

I love you all.
Yours truly.
M.

night

Hey, guys!

I'm still up and it's nearly 3:30.
Mum came back from seeing Santa with my nephew and was giving me all the Lapland news.
It's nearly time for my next tour, we kick off on Friday and have 6 dates.

We're not rehearsing in the capital so tomorrow I leave for Tartu, which is in southern Estonia.
We have a pianist rehearsal tomorrow and then two orchestra rehearsals on Thursday. So sweet!
I haven't done anything with a big orchestra in so long, so I'm super psyched for this.
It's got some tricky bits in the program but let's do it!!

Tomorrow before we leave for Tartu, I need to pack, print all the lyrics, stick some crap in the washing machine, ring my hair dresser and eat lots of pasta, just for banter really.

For now, I'm trying to get sleepy.
Adrenaline overhaul.

Peace and love, darlings.
Be safe.
Yours truly.

the flood

After me comes the flood.

Peter Gabriel still on my mind.

So the week coming up.
First of all, Monday through to Wednesday I've got lessons with a new teacher, this Italian man.
So let's all keep our fingers crossed and hope that this is Jesus sending another literal Jesus my way.
This would be marvelous.
I really seek a Teacher.
Not only in terms of singing but in any walk of life.
I seek advice and council and above all - inspiration.
I seek inspiration in this life.

Then there's also 5 gigs next week, one of which is the opening of The Tour.
Omg omg omg programs omg programs omg.
Omg.

So that's my week coming up.
Literally one week.
Sunday to Sunday.

Wish me luck.
I will of course keep you posted.

With love.
Yours truly.
M.

magnetic

I hope the thing that was here today and now has hopefully left was actually a magnetic storm.

Cause this day was not fun.

In other news.
- worked on the program for tomorrow
- sorted some music for a concert on the 30th so next Saturday
- did some awesome daydreaming/planning with the pretty one
- felt her babyNINJA'S HEART BEAT.
(let's just let this sink in)
- joined Instagram (I'm not yet taking pouty selfies, but knowing me, this will happen)
- watched many episodes of Hannibal (the new one with Mads Mikkelsen, LOVE)
- agreed to an interview on Monday
- and ate lasagne

So that was my day.
Tomorrow will be busy.
Wake-up, rehearsal, concert-ready, concert, rehearsal.

I really want to get all the social media things into a structure.
I mean, yeah, it's not usually my cup of tea.
And I always feel like I need to understand, visualise in my head, what role they have.
What part to play.

So for now, I'll leave you to bedtime.

Yours truly.
M.

done

This week is finally over.

I'm so pleased.

Re-cap.
Did some TV recording stuff, then some rehearsals, put together a programme for this school/education concert thing, had two of those on Friday, also saw some theatre, had some interesting emotions, and consequential thoughts, then a great catch-up with M-L, and then a good night out.
And it's done, and I'm so so pleased.

Onto the next one.

Love.
M.

TLN

Finally, finally back home.

Again, the gig went so well!
I just can't get over it, how much I'm enjoying it this year.
And tonight we had a really super audience.
Like sometimes you just get this awesome group energy I guess - I can't explain any other way.
And tonight was so good.

And now it's almost 3AM and I'm calming down.

Good night, everyone.
M.

Sunday, July 21

Sunday

Today has been very calm.
Woke up, had some breakfast and went to help dad with building a fence.
Pictures to follow.
And now I'm taking some nap-time, then packing my bags and going to gig number 15.

But for now, some visuals.

With love.

Wednesday, July 17

shine

Good morning, everyone!

It's breakfast time for me, and then packing all my stuff, ready to hit the road once more.
Gig-time tonight, and then staying South of the Estonian equator for 3 days.
Which will be lush!
Latenight swimming is my hands-down favourite thing to do after a concert.

I really hope you're having the most amazing Wednesday.
It's got the potential - so why not?

Sending you all loads and loads and loads of love and positive vibez.

Project love. Like Rachel Brathen says, everydamnday.

Happy mid-week.
M.

Packing gear.

This song is incredibly beautiful.
Rudimental and Becky Hill.
Give it a listen.

Tuesday, July 9

today

Spaniard and I are going for a day-trip! Yyyyaayyy!
To see Pisces-no-2.

This will be a day spent sunning and chatting and yes please.
And then gig-time again tomorrow, and because of these 2 days off I'm SUPER looking forward to it!

So happy Tuesday everyone.

I am pleased TO BITS today.

With love.
M.

CHEERFUL

Whatever at all this moaning.
Jesus, girl, SHUT UP.

Concert number 5 was another sell-out.
And it was such a nice evening.
Then I came home to an awesome sunset.

Then walked to the foodshop, with Lana blasting away in my ear-holes. And bought some soy-everything and milk for the cat.
Oh and some rice-milk drink thing - which is SO DELICIOUS.
So here I am.

Here's one for cheerful.

Cat-milk.

STHLM

Here
we
go
..
again.

I fly today at 6pm, and then only the Lol-god knows what will happen next.
A. and I are back on Friday - I'm in STHLM till Friday, she's in TLN till next Tuesday.

I'm currently eating watermelon and packing. After having disappeared into the Scaffolding concert madness this comes at a ridiculously appropriate moment.

BRING
ON
ADVENTURES

With love.
Mayhem.
Of Chaos and Mayhem.

Saturday

..and it continues.

Saturday was scaffolding day!

The morning started with the last one of my Flower-valley (Lilleoru) lectures. Which was so dense.
And I think that in my head I was already back in Tallinn preparing the gig.
So I took notes but I need to work through all of it.
But the day was absolutely beaut so it was delicious being there.

Then 7 hours of wisdom later mum and I drove back, straight to the church.
Some getting ready time, a quick rehearsal with the pianist, learning some last words.
And then off we went!

I'm so pleased we did this.
And it was so good.
The feedback was so super, like truly super. I was so surprised just how much it had touched people, including my own friends.
And I hadn't done a big project in so long, so in terms of person accomplishment this day was huge, for me.

Also, through this project I found an idea that I want to carry with me and share for a long long time:
That beauty will remain if we share with one another. (Crap translation on my part. "Üksteisega jagades jääb ilus püsima" in Estonian.)
The idea that everything fades, if we don't share. This applies to values, language, culture, ideas, beliefs, memories, stories and heritage. Share. Share with your friends with your families.
Tell them stories, show them photos, but share.
Because I've realised I don't believe in much else than just the beauty of this world, life and planet.
So share.

And then Saturday night brought more circus.

I went out, everywhere, with my backpack.
Saw the girls, sat with some friends, and then at 4AM met the Spanish one for a trip to Privé. Which was circus. Let's just say a whole session of "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights" ensued and it was just ridiculous ridiculous jokes.

The Saturday night ended on Sunday at 9pm (?!...I rate us highly), in Vapiano, with two bear shaped pizzas.

Complaints?

NONE.

today

Always with dem boxes.

It's time to write up some concert programs, like a bad-ass.

Peace.

Saturday, April 20

songstress

Thursday was double-gig day.

We hit the road around midday, first gig at 2pm, then left 3.30pm, just made it to the next gig like 20 minutes before, 7pm start, 8.30pm started driving back and hit TLN just before midnight.
The gigs went super well.
I haven't sung a full length concert in a while, so it was hard work - sweat.com - but the energy was amazing.

However, I did manage to viciously burn my tongue back stage with some hot water, which I forgot was hot..well done.
In my anger I decided to pap this situation.

And I also got to wear my allllltime favourite performance dress.
So all around lovely times.

And now I'm heading to town because the weather is amazing and I'm gonna go for a walk with the spanish one.
S p r i n g  i s  c o m i n g.

Actually, I don't look very enthusiastic in either of the photos, but I promise I was!

With love, as always.

2009

I found this picture the other day.
This was a brilliant gig. A casual storm carried away the actual stage so the producer got us the keys to this old village hall, and off we went. No mics for no one, everyone was damp as ever. Wet dog smell. And my dress remained in the bag - hence the skiing-jumper and boots.
It was just so lovely. And extraordinary for so many reasons. There were people sat on the stage, including my best friends. And when the cello guys (quartet C-Jam) were doing their solo songs I sat down onto this blanket thing, on the stage, with my friends.
I don't really remember that many of the songs we performed but I remember it.
Hence the photo.

This is THE MOST Captain Obvious thing to say - but it is so entirely right - that however hard you plan, you just cannot know. And more often than not the best things just happen on their own anyway.
And that's kinda great.

With love.M.

Tuesday, July 24

hello, hat

I am now the proud owner of a summery trilby.

I have already decided this is going to vastly improve my life.

I got a good concert offer today, for the 1st of August, but I'll be on holiday, in Croatia. And I mean, it's a good offer (if we consider all things future perspective related).
Now then.
The thing is.
I work too hard. Not necessarily even work too hard, but I think about work, too hard. I know it's not really the "right thing to say", because working hard is the one and only way and blah blah blah. But surely life is not really about working yourself sick but actually having a good time with the whole being alive thing and everything.
So now I'm struggling. I would love to be around for this gig, which is fine. But to feel like I've made a mistake going on holiday and I should just be free at all times, by default, just in case something pops up?
Now that's just sick.

So my project now is to stop this utter stupidity. If this would be someone I know, a friend person, I know what I would say. I'd say - ... (I'm really trying here)- You deserve a holiday, you have worked hard, in fact you have done NOTHING apart from working in July. So it's about time you have a holiday, because the next season is about to begin. And if you got this offer now, another one will follow. You don't know when, but it will. Just give them your availabilities - which I did - and it will go from there. The fact that you're a singer won't change. So the fact that you'll be on holiday instead of working on the 1st of August will not change a thing. You will miss ONE opportunity, which does not equal your career or anything else.
It's great I like what I do and I'd like to do more of it, but I think I should SHUT IT. And have a good time with my frikkin trilby.

buena vista

Elämä on laiffi. Those who don't know or understand this saying, if you have a spare second, google it.

Disclaimer; written in retrospective. This is a fairly meaningless post. Because my head is jumbled.

It's sunny today. And we're singing outside. It kinda feels like I made a deal with the Devil or something, because every time we're outdoors the clouds leave. Just leave. Go home. I love it. A good outdoor concert is just so good. (Another disclaimer. Considering Estonian weather, this truly is not much short of a miracle.)

Gentlemen, HVAR AWAITS!
I'm leaving for Helsinki in a week, to fly to Split on Monday. The weather forecast awaits below. (Disclaimer #3; I seem to be very fond of the word "awaits".)

So. The other day I baked blueberry tartlets.

Baking. fixes. everything.
At least with me. I like how precise it is, and of course, the outcome. I'll post some pictures of said tartlets later. They looked fit.

So.
Whoever you are, and if and when you happen to read this post,
All I can say to end it is,

the Devil still doesn't play fair, M.

Thursday, July 19

the 1:39am post

Tonight we finished concert 13. And it was lovely.
Now then.
I can honest to God say, I'm extremely tired.

So to aid that, tomorrow I'm starting a jumper. As in, starting the knitting of one. Since manual labour is most often my answer to everything I've decided to follow my own advice.

I feel like that hedgehog looks. Go figure. M.
